24 Sep Gin of the Month: Plymouth Gin
The oldest British gin distillery still operating in its original location, Plymouth Gin is a titan in the drinks world. It is definitely worthy of the continued affection held by many gin fans, including the team here at Just Gin(ish)!. If you haven’t ever tried it, we’d urge you to pick a bottle or two up and give it a try for yourself.
More about Plymouth Gin!
The iconic Plymouth Gin continues to be true to its roots and has retained its own distinct character. Produced in a still which has not been changed for over 150 years, it has a subtle yet full bodied flavour and an ever so slightly subdued juniper.
Formerly known as Black Friars Distillery, the Plymouth Gin Distillery of Fox and Williamson began production of Plymouth Gin back in 1793. That said, records suggest that distilling had been in existence since the 1690’s onwards on the exact same site it is today! The oldest British distillery still in active use in its original location, Plymouth Gin is a firm favourite with locals and those further afield and it’s clear to see why.
